New: Broad and Sons, Ship Agents of Falmouth

During Falmouth’s heyday in the C19, there were two main Ship Agents operating in the town: Fox’s and Broad’s. These companies provided services to ship owners up country, passing on ‘orders’ to ships calling ‘for orders’. They also arranged supplies for visiting captains and acted as consuls for a wide variety of other countries.

In this new article, Bartlett Volunteer Linda Batchelor looks at the early days of Broads, started by the entrepreneurial William Broad, and traces the family involvement in the firm.
