He has for many years been interested in racing on the Solent, and owned the 35-footer Flavia, built in 1897 by Summers and Payne from Mr. Arthur Payne’s design. He also owned Morgiana, 119 tons. He now owns Harmony, 24 tons, in partnership with Lord Brassey, L’ Allegra, 12 tons, built in 1901, and Ferida, 2½-rater. He is a member of the Yacht Racing Association.
