Currie, Sir Donald, G.C.M.G.

Head of the famous shipping firm, and a keen yachts­man. He was born in 1825, and entering business, quickly became a notable figure in commerce. He has devoted much of his time and great experience to the interests of yachting. He is Commodore of the Royal Forth Yacht Club, and an extremely popular senior officer.

His fine steam yacht, the Iolaire, 999 tons, built by W. Beardmore and Co. at Glasgow in 1902, is one of the most mag­nificent yachts afloat, and was built to Lloyds’ highest class. Sir Donald is afloat in the Mediterranean in the winter and around the British coasts in the summer.
