Vivian, Hon. Walter Warwick

Is an all-round sportsman and a noted yachtsman. He commenced his nautical career early in life, and before he had reached the age of seventeen he had been three times round Cape Horn in sailing vessels, and had visited many foreign and colonial parts.

Settling down to a business life at home, he spent some of his spare time on board his father Lord Vivian’s yacht, the Surprise, Mr. C. Duff’s yawl Maude, and Mr. C. Rose’s Satanita. His first fast boat was the Maudita, a 1-rater. At the same time he owned the yawl Chrisalis, and later the cutter Lassie I. This boat he sold, and built Lassie II., followed by Flatfish and Soper. Both were good prize-winners, and are still in his possession.
